What stories lie under the smiles on our faces, the scars on our bodies, or the depth of our eyes? underlie is an immersive dance performance reflecting on stories developed from community workshops and a willingness to expose what lies underneath.

The Dying Swan: Revisited/Re-envisioned

Inspired by the failing body of my grandmother and the 1905 solo by Anna Pavlova, choreographed by Mikhail Fokine, The Dying Swan: Revisited/Re-envisioned uses the original poem (Lord Tennyson’s “The Dying Swan”), iconic imagery from the original choreography, and Michael Wall’s version of the original song (Le Cygne by Camille Saint-Saëns) to create an updated, evening-length version of the dance.

Come experience the whirlwind explorational year Erica Buechner spent diving into the process of art making while attending graduate school. The work that came out pushed her performance boundaries, got more personal than she was ever willing to previously expose, sparked her interest in multi-media performance, and continued her investigation in dance and theater.
